Center for Independent Living (CIL) is a member of European Network of Independent Living (ENIL) and its representative is a member of ENIL’s Executive Committee (www.enil.eu.com). During the years of working on the problems of women with disabilities Center established cooperation with Leadership Forum for Women with Disabilities (LFWD – www. rehab-international.org/ publications). CIL also developed close cooperation with European Disability Forum (EDF - www.edf-feph.org), World Bank – Disability Department (www. worldbank.org/disability), Institute for Independent Living from Sweden (ILI – www.independentlivinginstitute.org), International Labour Organisation (ILO – www.ilo.org), UN Development Fund (UNDP – www.undp.org), UN Department for Economic and Social Affairs (DESA – www.un.org/desa) and CIL representatives participated on numerous international meetings related to disability issues.
Through the successful intenational cooperation and membership in the networks of related organizatons, the Centar provides the flow of information on activities of the World disability movement, on international standards and documents, that have been created or adopted, using them as the tools in advocating, monitoring, analyzing and suggesting new legal solutions that should contribute to the improvement of the status of persons with disabilities. Knowledge on the philosophy of independent living and the disability social approach and experience in their handing down and application are good tools in this work.
