Inaccessibility, insufficient development and inadequacy of social protection services at the local community level, unemployment, difficulties in the education process, realization of rights and services in the field of health care, are just some of the problems that people with disabilities face in the areas where they live.

"EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES" is the name of the program implemented by the Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities of Serbia in partnership with local Centers for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities from Smederevo, Trstenik, Leskovac and Kragujevac. The program is being implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Human and Minority Rights and Social Dialogue of the Republic of Serbia, within the competition "Implementation of anti-discrimination policies in the Republic of Serbia for 2021." The program is implemented in the period from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022.

The goal of the program is to encourage public awareness of the importance of equality and respect for diversity in order to reduce the general level of discrimination, by improving attitudes towards people with disabilities as active and equal members of society.

The program is implemented through activities that include conducting an analysis of the situation in the field of protection of persons with disabilities from discrimination in terms of accessibility at the local level, focus groups and public debates, training to strengthen the capacity of public and professional workers to prevent discrimination against persons with disabilities. in order to promote the human rights of persons with disabilities, as well as the principles of equality and equity at the level of local communities.
